Tourist Board Display to Promote Crossing Borders ArtTrail
From: Linda Kinsman-Blake
Dear Crossing Borders members
I have arranged with the tourist boards to display work for the run up to the Art Trail 2011.
I will set up at Melrose and Kelso, so will need other people to set up the remaining tourist venues.
date: Work is to be set up the last week in July and run until the mid September.
venue:
Hawick One Shelf
Selkirk It may be possible to have two small window ledges (although it may be possible to have work in the museum)
They are concerned with theft at this venue.
Peebles Window display and one glass cabinet.
Jedburgh One large display shelf
Eyemouth Shelving behind the desk
Kelso Window Display
Melrose Glass cabine
We have also been offered the use of the glass cabinets in the Council foyer in Newtown St Boswells.
They would like us to organize changing displays throughout the year. This would require quite a lot of work but they do employ a lot of people in the Borders!
Alternatively someone could do a display for the Art Trail and see if this is a worth while venue.
cost: They have agreed to this, as it is seen as promoting an event, rather than members of the tourist board. Please note the tourist board will not cover for any damage, therefore all work will be displayed at your own risk!
contact: Any body interested in taking part please contact me as soon as possible.

ESSENTIAL RETURN OF ART TRAIL SHEEP SIGNAGE
Calling all sheep! If you still have any of the Art Trail Sheep signs and will not be participating in this year's event - they MUST be returned now please. The sheep are distinctive and essential signposting to open studios and workshops over the trail weekends and represent a significant cost investment to Crossing Borders as a group. Very few were brought back last year and sadly there is no funding to make more this year - so it is really important that they can be re-used.
Julia Linstead at The Hirsel is chief shepherdess so please return them to her by any of these options:
a) bring your sheep with you if you are coming to the BBQ on 23rd July;
b) return to Julia anytime BEFORE the 23rd July;
c) give it to your Area Rep BEFORE the 23rd July.
IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN THIS YEAR'S ART TRAIL - PLEASE HANG ON TO YOUR SHEEP, FRESHEN UP THE PAINT AND RE-USE.
IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST ART TRAIL - YOU CAN COLLECT A SHEEP AT THE 23RD JULY BBQ.
Thank you everyone for your help with this - it's really important!

ART TRAIL INFO/BRIEFING SESSION FOR ALL PARTICIPATING MEMBERS
Just before the BBQ on 23rd July, there will be an information session for all Art Trail participants. You will be given a briefing about the east and west trail weekends and your copies of the Art Trail brochures and all other instructions / necessary paperwork will be handed out. Any questions you have about the trail can be answered. If you already have a sheep sign from last year - please keep it for re-use. If you haven't got one, you can pick one up at the info/ briefing session.
It's really important that all participants attend this session - so thank you in advance for making the time to come along. The bonus is that you get to enjoy the BBQ afterwards!
date: Saturday 23rd July - 4.30pm (with BBQ social from 5 pm)
